(August 9th, 2019) Indian Hills Community College, Department of Continuing Education and Workforce Solutions has launched a new fast track, 8-week Financial Services Certificate Program. The new certificate program prepares talent for the Securities Industries Essentials (SIE) exam which is administered and accredited by FINRA (Financial Industry Regulatory Authority).

The new certificate program begins September 9th and was developed in response to the growing number of jobs in the Financial Services industry in Southeast Iowa.

Ashley Moyer, Executive Director for Indian Hills Community College Department of Continuing Education and Workforce Solutions said, “This program is a perfect fit for someone looking to gain an entry level position in the banking, financial services and insurance industries. This program is eligible for financial aid and I encourage anyone interested to contact Indian Hills to see if they qualify for financial assistance.”

In addition to coursework designed to prepare students for the SIE exam, they will also take classes to help with business writing and etiquette, customer service skills, keyboarding skills, and Microsoft Excel and Outlook. In both Excel and Outlook, students will have the chance to earn certificates endorsed by Microsoft, which demonstrate skill with these programs to future employers.

Cambridge Investment Research in Fairfield, Iowa is a leader in its national industry and one of the growing financial services firms in Southeast Iowa, and its demand for additional workforce is paralleling its growing business. In the most recent five years, Cambridge has added over 220 new associate positions, growing from 659 associates in 2014 to 885 associates in 2019.

Amy Webber, CEO and President of Cambridge Investment Research said, “With our corporate campus in Southern Iowa, we are thrilled that Indian Hills is equally committed to developing exciting careers for talented people choosing to live in and enjoy our Midwest communities.”

Fairfield Economic Development Association, Executive Director, Joshua Laraby stated, “Indian Hills Community College has a great working relationship with economic development and local business and industry in our region. The College keeps a healthy pulse on workforce training needs for the marketplace and for growing employers, like Cambridge.”

Tuition for the course is $2,690. This includes all course materials, plus exam fees. It also includes transportation for the class to take the SIE exam in Des Moines. (Students unable to take the exam on the scheduled day, must make their own travel arrangements for testing.)
